Making of: Golden net hat

I used Scheepjes Stone Washed in the past to make this dread band. I really like this yarn – it has beautiful golden color with amazing shine. Also, even though it is cotton-acrylic mix, it feels a little like wool, which I find interesting. For the dread band I chose net design and loved it so much I just had to try it again! This time – for a giant beanie hat!

The picture above was taken on a very sunny day and you can see how shiny this yarn can be. Isn’t it just wonderful?

Making net is quite easy and fast – I just yarn over 2 times and then knit 2 together. In the next round I drop first YO and purl 2. I just kept going until the yarn ended. ;)

The hat is really big! So loose and slouchy – perfect if you have a lot of dreads, braids or just hair ;) Or you can just let it fall gently to the back of your head. Either way, it looks great.

You can see – and buy – finished hat in my Etsy shop.
