I have already shown you two scarves made with reversible double knitting technique – pink hearts and blue hearts. Today I would like to show much more complicated, animal design. Do you like cats? I hope so!
At first, I google a little, looking for inspiration. I found number of black and white pictures/drawings of cats. In the end, I had to choose one. I do not own a photoshop, so I had to use Gimp (which can be really irritating sometimes…) to put a criss-cross over it and pixelate it, because creating the knitting pattern is kind of like making a pixel picture. ;)
I took me quite some time to get it right! As you can see, I changed the original picture, adding whiskers and different tail.
Then I decided to add cat feet. This time I went old-fashioned and used notebook and pencil. It was much easier than using computer for me… ;)
I was making this scarf for three weeks. Is it long? Well, the design wasn’t easy and scarf is pretty wide and long, so I think it went quite fast. Especially when remembering I was making my very first scarf for three months! :D
At first, I wasn’t planning on adding fringes, but in the end I decided to give it a shot. And it looks great, right? So if you have a cat, she/he will have fun with the scarf too! ;)
The scarf is obviously two-sided – yellow with black cat and black with yellow cat. Who do you like the colours? What do you think about this animal design?
If you really like it, you can buy it in my Porcupine Knits shop on Etsy.
